1. What is the typical arrival time?
Groups normally arrive no earlier than 3:00 pm the day before their hunt begins. If you begin with the afternoon hunt then arrival should be no later than 11:00 am the day of.

2. What are the cabins like?
Each cabin sleeps four people and has a fully furnished bathroom and kitchen. All of your cooking utensils and cookware are in each cabin. Linens, towels, and bath cloths are also included in each cabin. If you need anything during your stay just ask your guide.

3. May we shoot our weapons before the hunt?
Yes, you must check in with one of the guides and make sure all paperwork is taken care of and the brief has been completed before you can shoot your weapons.

4. What type of stand set-ups do we hunt?
We hunt a variety of terrain including food plots, over automatic feeders, flooded timber, etc. Most of our stands are ladder stands 14 - 18 ft. and a few box blinds. We also hunt our bow hunters out of Double Bull Archery blinds for maneuverability.

5. Where is the closest town with all living necessities?
Manning is about fifteen minutes from the lodge and has everything that you will need. Ask your guide for directions.

6. Is there a local sporting goods store?
Yes, in Manning you have Simpson’s Hardware and Gedding’s Hardware. They are both small but well stocked sporting goods store that can satisfy most of your basic needs. We do have some supplies at the lodge.

7. Does Black River Plantation have shirts or hats for sale?
Yes, we have shooting shirts, polo shirts, camo shirts, and hats available in the lodge.

8. Are tips required?
No, but a large portion of your guides income each year are his tips. Tipping is a personal thing, but if you are satisfied with your hunt a 15-20% gratuity is appreciated by the guides.
